Successful Cost-effective Conciliation Services

Irish standard forms of building contract include an option for the parties to refer a dispute to conciliation. The conciliation process is often preferred where the parties are looking to retain a relationship but feel they need the assistance of a third-party, the Conciliator, to facilitate structured discussions and seek solutions.

Mark Etherington, a conciliator on the Society of Chartered Surveyors panel, was recently appointed as a conciliator, for a dispute between an employer and contractor.

Based on the dispute’s value, Mark agreed on a fixed price for the conciliation, which provided cost certainty to the parties.

Both parties positively engaged in the process and during the hearing held at our offices; Mark was able to facilitate the parties to an agreement.
